Being a Lehigh German Shepherd Dog Club member offers many opportunities. The Club, with the aid of the German Shepherd Dog Club of America and the AKC, endeavors to educate the general public about the many capabilities of the German Shepherd. In addition, the club has projects to promote responsible pet ownership.
Here are some of the activities the Club offers:
All – breed obedience classes are offered year-round to the public and club members. Club members are given a discounted rate. Please see the "Obedience Classes" page for additional information.
The Spring Specialty Show
The first of the two shows the Club sponsors during each calendar year, the spring show is a specialty show held in March for German Shepherds.*
The Designated Specialty Show
The second of the two annual shows, the Club sponsors a Designated Specialty Show in conjunction with the Lehigh Valley Kennel Club.*
* Both shows offer classes for Conformation and Obedience.
Meetings (with Guest Speakers)
The Club has several general membership meetings during the calendar year with guest speakers covering a wide range of subjects. Such topics include aspects of training, showing dogs, health and proper care of German shepherds.
Picnic's are a popular event with members and their guests. Dogs are extra special guests at these events.
Dogs, members, and guests are also invited to a Christmas Party which is usually held in December of each year.
The annual Awards Dinner is held in April of each year. Members and guests are invited to join in honoring the accomplishments of Club members for titles they have earned in the previous year. Awards are presented to qualifying members.
